My summer reading list

I thought I’d share with you what books I’ll be reading on holidays this year. I love reading, but lost the patience to do it during exams, so I’m looking forward to getting stuck in to some good reads! I have a whole pile of unread books on my bookcase, but some are a little hard-hitting for summer- I fancied some light hearted fun 😉

My mum is mad over Isla Dewar books, and I thought I’d give this one a go. It tells the story of Meg, who decides “it’s time Megs gave up on being ordinary and started taking life on her own terms.” Isla Dewar’s style is supposed to be very insightful and the stories always seem to be fun, so Giving up on Ordinary is the one I’m going to delve into first!

So, maybe this isn’t the light-hearted fun I mention, but I love the film version of Atonement with Keira Knightley and James Macavoy, and I’ve  been desperate to read this Ian McEwan novel since I saw it. It tells the story of a young girl, who sees her sister have an encounter with Robbie, a family friend, and misinterprets it, the consequence of which change their lives forever. I know the novel will be far better than the film- they always are-  so I’m looking forward to spending a long time in the Italian sun getting lost in this book!

I bought this book after seeing Dawn French being interviewed on a TV chat show and she made me laugh so much- then again, she always does! I read the first few pages and then stopped. No reason! I was enjoying the tiny bit I’d read by this point but I still haven’t got back to it. I lent it to my Mum not long ago and she was constantly laughing out loud at it! I’ve decided it’s time to get back to this comedic tale about a dysfunctional family, and I am looking forward to doing so!

What books do you plan to get into this summer??
